Micro Needling

The Environ Medical Poll-Cit is a revolutionary instrument used by medical professionals, introduced and pioneered by Dr. Do Fernandes, a leading South African Elastic Surgeon and founder of the Environ range of skin care products and treatments.

What is Micro Needling?

Micro needling is a safe and minimally invasive alternative to more abrasive procedures. The simple technique involves a hand held roller tool with rows of fine 1mm needles that create minute channels into the dermis, inducing a natural process of skin rejuvenation. Needling of the skin creates tiny areas of trauma that initiate a natural process of healing which releases numerous growth factors and also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. As a result, the skin becomes smoother and tighter.

Topical Vitamin A is well known for its normalizing effects, but when it comm to wrinkles and sagging of the skin, the problem is in the dermis where collagen has become damaged and thinner.

How is Micro Needling performed?

A topical anaesthetic is placed on the face and left to activate for 3o minutes. The skin is then rolled with the Roll-Cit horizontally, vertically and diagonally.

How long does Micro Needling take?

It is advisable to set aside at least 45 minutes for Micro Needling.

What is Micro Needling indicated for?

Skin tightening, acne scarring, fine wrinkles, hypo-pigmentation, stretch marks, sarring e.g burn, surgery

What results could I expect from Micro Needling?

Micro Needling thickens and rejuvenates the skin, reduces pigmentation marks and diminishes the appearance of dialated blood vessels. The results of the treatment are on going and endure for many years, with the understanding that the long-term outcome is utterly dependant on the use of Vitamin A, C & E and anti oxidants to provide food and protection to the skin.
